The holiday season is a time of giving, especially to those struggling to overcome poverty and other challenges in underserved communities.
Thanks to your support, TIS Foundation reaches hundreds of vulnerable children and families in Washington, DC each year providing meals, gifts, educational sessions and entertainment to support and uplift local neighborhood residents.

In 2019, TIS Foundation provided a warm Thanksgiving meal and fresh turkeys to over 700 low-income households in the Carver Terrace neighborhood in Ward 5 of Northeast Washington, DC. The Annual Thanksgiving Community Outreach Celebration and Turkey Giveaway was hosted on November 26, 2019 at Family Community Fellowship Church, which is led by Pastor Darrell Lewis. It included a mental health awareness session and remarks from Ambassador Sidney S. Collie, U.S. Representative, Franklin Garcia; the Mayor’s Office on Returning Citizens, District of Columbia Public Schools, local faith community leaders, and a special keynote address from the esteemed Ambassador Suzan Johnson Cooke.

On December 16, 2019 TIS Foundation brought gifts and holiday cheer for over 500 children during its TIS the Season Annual Toy Giveaway hosted at Family Community Fellowship Church. The Ward 5 Carver Terrace community gathered to take a moment to share together in the spirit of the holiday season. Families left the giveaway event with toys, photos of their children with Mr. and Mrs. Clause, and information on how to connect to TIS Foundation’s empowerment programs that are being delivered directly in their community.
